Reefer Link® Technology with eAPU

Patented technology that makes energy from the reefer unit available to the power cab heating, air conditioning, electrical power and back-up alternator power for both the reefer unit and the truck’s starter batteries in the event one fails. The Reefer Link® option can be used alone or with an eAPU.

We had issues with our previous APU. The batteries would run down and there was little to no dealer support. We lost drivers because the previous product didn’t provide the backup power needed to meet the hours of service (HOS) regulation requirements and give our over-the-road drivers the off-duty sleeper-bunk comforts they need.

During our search for a better solution, PTI’s Idle Free development engineer, Robert Jordan, met with us and explained the advantages of the Idle Free eAPU™ and Reefer Link Systems. Our drivers really like the reefer-based Idle Free APU. They benefit from a comfortable temperature in the bunk, a warm engine and access to a television and computer.

How Does it Work?

The reefer-based Idle Free Systems electric APU is the complete, year-round, one-of-a-kind electric APU solution for sleepers and day cabs pulling a refrigerated trailer. This system uses patented Reefer Link™ technology to make energy from the reefer unit available to drivers.
